Questions Raised Over Fairness of PLP Leadership Contest Amid Allegations.
Questions have emerged over the fairness and transparency of the Progressive Labour Party leadership contest as Curtis Dickinson and Jason Hayward compete to replace Premier David Burt. A source familiar with the process alleges Dickinson’s campaign has faced repeated obstacles obtaining party membership and constituency information that Hayward’s team has received without difficulty. The claims come after Burt publicly endorsed Hayward and after last week’s Cabinet reshuffle removed National Security Minister Michael Weeks, Education Minister Crystal Caesar and Junior Finance Minister Wayne Furbert. Sources also allege the three ministers attended a Dickinson campaign forum at CedarBridge Academy’s Ruth Seaton James Auditorium about two weeks earlier, although no official link has been confirmed.
