A veteran powerboat racer says marine traffic has long made Hamilton Harbour race events dangerous after Sunday’s fatal crash killed a competitor. The Bermuda Powerboat Association has postponed its scheduled Hamilton Harbour race while investigations continue. The anonymous racer said boats and jet skis entering active race zones have repeatedly forced competitors to take evasive action at high speed. He said the harbour’s confined space and steady recreational traffic create unique risks during races.
