Questions Mount Over Bermuda’s CCTV Network After Cameras Near Shooting.
TNN understands that CCTV cameras located outside the Southampton Ranges Sports Club main gate and parking area have reportedly been out of operation for at least three weeks, raising serious public safety concerns amid the island’s ongoing surge in gun violence. Sources indicate that during incidents that occurred in early May, footage was successfully retrieved from the area’s surveillance system. However, following Sunday night’s shooting incident, investigators were reportedly unable to access any footage because the cameras are currently not functioning. TNN understands that technicians believed to be from a local company have been seen at the location over the past two weeks attempting to rectify the issue. Despite those efforts, questions remain about how long the cameras have been offline and why the system has not yet been restored.
